Vibration platform for IVDD

Post by steved »

Hi
I have just started using a vibration platform in my patients.
I recently had an IVDD dachshund with UMN tone in hind legs and it was hard to get him from stand to sit.
The vibration seemed to turn off that UMN tone and also seemed to give him more strength in sit to stand and stand to sit exercises.
I now have another patient who is 2 weeks post op hemilaminectomy surgery.
Has motor function, spasticity in hind legs and ataxia.
I couldn't find any studies to say it might be contraindicated but do you think it might be too early to use the vibration platform in this doggo? Any experience with this?

Thanks
Steve

Hey Steve,

Thank you for this topic to discuss! We are using it at my clinic with all sorts of dogs.

I'd say use it!

Check out all of the FourLeg Videos on the subject:

Video Training 190: Vibration Platforms - Part 1
Video Training 191: Vibration Platforms - Part 2 (*** This is the one that has the research to back up use with Spinal Cord injuries - most of which is rodent / rabbit studies - so, "Animal" and very relevant)
Video Training 192: Vibration Platforms - Part 3

Then, Check out this blog. It has links to other videos of neuro dogs and Vibrational Platform therapy.

Go for it!!!!

All the best,
