Digital Goniometer

Post by lehughes »

Hi Laurie,

I am a newly minted CCRT veterinarian and I absolutely hate using the goniometer! I watched your video on goniometer measurements and I suspect you harbor similar feelings. When I broke my shoulder the PT’s were debating over what my exact measurements were and where they should place the goniometer. So it seems I am not alone. While thumbing through a catalog I came across the “Easyangle” goniometer. Since I will be working alone and have a very short and poor memory, I was wondering if it was worth the 300 American dollars they are asking for. Are you familiar with this contraption and if so what do you think?

Thank you

Hi C,

So, I’m going to direct you to a Four Leg Newsletter where I evaluated the current literature on CANINE goniometry. There’s actually a paper that looked at digital goniometers. Spoiler alert - none of them are any good! So, to answer your question, "Nah, $300 US isn’t likely worth it!”

All the best!
