Deaf Collie

Post by lehughes »

Hi laurie

This is an interesting one. Is there any kind of physio that can help a deaf collie? She went deaf suddenly over a few days then hearing returned to normal for a few weeks then went deaf again suddenly and now can only hear a very high pitch whistle. Vet says age related...

Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

thanks

Hey S,

I don’t know about ‘physio’ for such things. Although if I were to ‘try’ something, it would be craniosacral therapy and C1-2 mobs.
However, I have had some dogs that have seen a holistic - TCM vet, who go in and out of hearing loss / recovery depending on how they are doing in regards to their Traditional Chinese Medicine status.
It might be worth pointing the owner in that direction if they’re interested!

Cheers,

Laurie
