Where to publish case reports on rabbit physiotherapy

Post by JaneHK »

Hi- looking for advice

I have a completed a case series of 5 pet rabbits looking at the benefits of physiotherapy in hind leg weakness and effect on Quality of Life. It's a dissertation, case load is from Hong Kong. Overall, the work has some hairs on it using HHHHMM scale for QoL (not validated) but I saw excellent results and just the way to target therapeutic exercise is pretty cool and successful.

My colleagues in Australia think it reads like a super long rabbit stew recipe.....
I am wondering if it's the same in the US?
Any suggested journals?

thanks
Jane

This is a great question Jane!

I think there is a place for case reports for sure! I think they are foundational for next level research. (i.e. A clinician tries something, and is pleased with success. He/She tells others about it, and then the researchers in the labs can use that thought processing for larger scale RCT-type research.)

The trouble is that most of the 'big' journals want the highest level of research. As such, I'd seek out 'younger' vet journals, open access vet journals, and smaller-sized country vet journals for this sort of thing.

Because I have published a couple of times before, I am constantly getting e-mails from journals asking for my 'latest research' (they send these to anyone that has authored before I assume).
I've gone back through my e-mail 'trash' and pulled out a few for you to check out:

Hopefully, others will chime in as well!
