Hi Laurie,
One question regarding puppy exams... is there anything specific to look for in determining jumping ability and overall athleticism for agility early?
Thanks,
M

Hi M,

As for a puppy exam. Check all of the things you normally would on any exam. Pay special attention to spine, pelvis & ribs, as those are very changeable / treatable at this stage.
Then look at conformation (check out the conformation video on FourLeg -

They want balance in angles from front to rears. If the puppy seems to have good body awareness early on, that’s also a good sign (i.e. simply 3 leg standing or even diagonal leg standing).
No other oddities (i.e. short neck, hocks that can be pushed forwards easily).
