Sciatic Nerve damaged rescue kitty

Post by lehughes »

Little kitten that has come into rescue. Vets have done x Ray's which I am going to have a look at. Apparently spinal injury . I am going to have a look at this kitten in the next few weeks . It looks to me that the sciatic nerve has been damaged bilaterally . Just wondering if you have any suggestions of what might help this little guy.

Hmm... maybe not. Maybe bilateral achilles tendon tear (musculoskeletal junction). But try e-stim on hamstrings and on gastrocs to test. Bilateral sciatic would put the issue up at L6-S1... which would also affect the tail and bowel and bladder. So I think you'll need to see this one before making a judgement on root of the problem. That being said, rear end glutes / rump is dramatically atrophied, but I'm amazed at how well he moves! So maybe it's coming back???
Laser, Tail pull traction, regular traction, any rear leg reaching, foot stimulus, butt rubs to stimulate the 'happy cat butt rise reflex' (I just made that up). Sorry for my tardy reply... too much craziness! I hope this helps somewhat! All the best!
