Hi Laurie,
I love your website and all the emails I receive! Do you have any info on rehabilitating dogs after spinal inflammation? Thank you for all the updates!
Best,

Hi B.,
I’m so happy you are enjoying the website and finding it useful!
Now, as far as spinal inflammation goes, really anything you would do to treat IVDH / IVDD would be advisable, since most of what we do in those scenarios (as in the direct treatments to the spine) are working via pathways to reduce inflammation (and pain).
So:
1. Laser (high doses to get to the spine)
2. PEMF (if you have it, why not, low frequency /hertz)
3. Acupuncture
4. TENS (if no acupuncture… on 2 - 4 Hz - otherwise known as ‘acupuncture-like’ TENS
5) Tail pulls (to provide a gentle stretch / mobilization of the dura - and have an anti-inflammatory effect), or neck traction if you are talking about a cervical issue
6) Traction (type will depend on the size of the dog) - See the Traction Video.
7) Grade 1 - 2 mobilizations for pain and inflammation to the area or adjacent areas.
8) Fascial techniques might also have some benefit via neural loops, mast cell degranulation… etc.
I’m sure there are other things I’m missing… but these would be in my arsenal of things to try!
Best of luck!
Laurie
