Blood Flow Restriction Training

Post by lehughes »

I just saw your blog on blood flow restriction. That was my inservice when I was a student last year and I learned a great deal about it and used it with human patients. I wondered about the implementation on dogs. Was wondering if you’ve tried it?

Hi Kaitlyn!
I've not tried it yet! I'm doing an experiment with 'Voodoo Flossing' and carpal ROM with my own dog. I want to try blood flow restriction as well... but I'm not sure how I measure improvement with that one. I was thinking you could use it while walking on a treadmill and/or using a vibration platform... but then what? How do I know if it's worth doing or not? I'm leery of trying it on any post-op client-owned dogs. Maybe I just need to test for compliance and go from there!
