Partial CCL - bracing?

Patient is a 40lb Aussie which is missing a rear foot (mid metatarsal). Normally the dog will use the stump about half the time, usually when at a slow pace. At a faster gait she primarily holds up the stump leg and hops on the good leg. Overall the dog is in fairly good condition, and even participates in low level agility.
After woods walking and a slip on the ice, she now has a presumptive partial CCL tear on the good leg. We have begun conservative management. The dog cannot hop on the stump leg, but is using it full time now that the good leg is injured.
I know there is much debate about using stifle bracing, but I'm concerned of this becoming a complete tear. Would love to hear others opinions.
Laurie- I saw in previous posts you mentioned the A-Trac brace. Would bracing in this case be beneficial in preventing further damage?
