This is my first time on the forum.
Just had a friend of mine, who is physical therapist, ask me about conservative care for her dog with bilateral cruciate tears (with meniscal tears). More specifically, she wanted to know if it would be a good idea to use a cart with the dog so that the legs can rest. Has anyone ever heard of this? Any thoughts?

The number one goal for improving stability and enhancing function in cruciate deficiency is to build muscle. So, I'd say, don't use a cart.

However, if there are meniscal tears, then conservative management won't go well. If nothing more, I'd recommend arthroscopic removal of the meniscal fragments.

Is there some reason that she is avoiding surgery?
