Evie is a 7yo English pointer who was already receiving long term nsaids for suspected cauda equina
I came home one afternoon last week to find her outside shaking and crying, i went out with food realising I had not fed them, she backed away from the food and screamed in pain then backed into the corner of the fence and howled. In the car to the vet she went.
On exam she would not allow movement of her neck to the left. She was then sedated for the pain and had radiographs which are attached.
Here are the comments from the specialist who looked at the rads:
We are concerned about a circular lucency visible at the rostral end plate on C4 to the right hand side
I don't think that's a real finding, it's rotated as you say. The cervical disc spaces should get wider from C2/3 through C6/7. In these (post #2) 4/5, 5/6 and 6/7 aren't as wide as they should be in an anesthetized dog. She may have collapse or still have muscle spasm. There is abundant caudal cervical spondylarthritis (arrowed below). That can impinge on the meninges and cord.

She was sent home with gabapentin x 3 bid, tramadol x 3 bid, metacam oral 26kg dose sid and alpraz x 1 bid and is now better than her normal self! Also to rest for 6 weeks and CT recommended for diagnosis, however this is unfortunately out of my price range

Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you
