Re: Painful Synostosis
I've got a friend with Morton's neuroma and that just made me wonder whether there might be some nerve pinching or entrapment going on where the metacarpals are squashing/ fusing together. I'm not sure what would help but maybe gabapentin, laser or TENS proximally if tolerated. Ill have to get out t...

Re: Joint mice in the biceps tendon sheath
Just a little update. Two weeks ago Joe went for removal of the joint mice. Could not be accessed arthroscopically but surgery was minimally invasive and the transvers humeral ligament was not cut. The biceps tendon looked grossly normal. I have the little offenders in a specimen pot and they look l...

Re: Joint mice in the biceps tendon sheath
Thanks Laurie and David for your advice. I think we are all singing from the same hymn sheet and Ill pursue options for the least invasive surgical route and see where we get to. In my imagination it wouldn't seem that difficult to slip a tiny hook or suction down the sheath and hook the little b***...

Re: Joint mice in the biceps tendon sheath
I would love to have the surgeons perspective on a case like this alongside physios rehabbers who have dealt with . There might be so many good reasons why what seems logical to me might very well not be. Are there any shoulder specialists out there who could give me the benefit of their experience.

Joint mice in the biceps tendon sheath
Hello there, I have a male neutered 2year old border collie who had bilateral OCD lesions pre 1yr old. Treated with arthroscopic removal of flap and fragments and curettage. Slow to recover and contemplated synthetic Syncart plug in the left shoulder with the larger lesion. Did eventually become sou...

Re: Biceps tendon luxation or something else??
Thanks Laurie I will see them again tomorrow and try doing shoulder abduction very slowly. She is not a very relaxed dog so I've actually had to do it in sitting so far. Ill try and get her into lateral recumbency to be more relaxed and try again and caudal do glide in extension. The first time I fe...

Biceps tendon luxation or something else??
Hello All, I am seeing a 4.5 year old border collie agility dog referred with 2 week history of intermittent lameness and painful right shoulder flexion. History of difficult blood draw from RFL and then appeared lame after running down a hill and turning sharply. Seemed better next day and did an a...

Re: THR needs revision. Revise or FHO?
Thanks Laurie, Its good to know that even large dogs with bilateral FHO can do well if all else fails including the left THR. If anyone comes across the paper (or wrote it) it would be interesting to read. If the vet thinks the risk of revision is too great ( he is the most experienced revision vet ...

Re: recurrent shoulder OCD puppy
Thanks Laurie and David, Reassuring words from you both re our current treatment and prognosis. Synacart was the material mentioned for resurfacing if necessary. Have you any thoughts on the evidence base for this synthetic implant?

recurrent shoulder OCD puppy
Hello All, My favourite patient (because he is mine) is a 9 month old entire male border collie puppy. He grew like a weed and has got OCD both shoulders Right > Left . We are now 3 months post arthroscopic removal of flaps/fragments and debridement at an orthopaedic referral centre. Did 4 weeks of ...
