Re: HELP!

Thanks laurie. I guess I knew the answer just wanted to hear it from someone that has more experience than me and not emotionally involved in the case :( I have so much respect for your opinion. In respect to working with strengthening the muscles in the rear limb and dealing with the luxation, woul...

HELP!

Hello All, Sure could use some advice for a patient our clinic has been seeing for several months. We have a 1.5 yr old St, Bernard that was seen at another facility for a fractured Femur. The repair went south during healing and the pin that was placed, had "backed" out of the Femur and actually en...

Re: Post Op Achilles tendon repair

Curious if the surgeon used any PRP injections into the Sx area at the surgery time? Our orthopedic surgeon does that since the tendons are less vascular than other tissues for healing. It has worked well on many occasions for the Achilles surgeries he has done.

Re: Ataxic Older dog

hi Laurie, I am sorry to be so long responding back. Thank you so much for your response. This case had me stumped, Didn't know how much was related to possible old injures from the roll over accident that had progressed to existing problems. The test did come back and I am sorry but forget the spec...

Ataxic Older dog

Hello Everyone, I met an older (8yr)67 lb. Neutered male Airedale that came to our clinic with progressive ataxia. He was in a rollover accident where he was ejected from the vehicle back in Dec. 2018. No broken bones or open wounds miraculously. He appeared to recover from that accident without inc...

Re: Caudal Cervical Spondylomyelopathy

Hello what are your thoughts on a soft neck brace for these patients? I had someone tell me one that they had tried a make shift cervical collar that they put on a Wobblers dog and it seemed to make a difference in the dogs ability to balance itself better? This person told me they made it with a ro...

Re: laser peer reviewed research article

Hi Jennifer If you go to the website for Companion lasers there are a few short videos that are really good that explain the mechanisms of laser therapy and how it effects the mitochondria of the cells etc. I think this would be a really good thing for him to look at. I agree though, sometimes peopl...

Re: Persistent chewing

Not sure if it would help but if it is a neurological issue trying him on a round of Gabapentin may be helpful as a rule out? If that makes no difference in his issue then with the tenderness in the ligaments perhaps some gentle extended stretching. warming area up prior to then extending and holdin...

Re: Booties for DM dog

Hello Cindy We use the same booties Laurie is talking about and love them!. Another really neat item is the help em up harness. It is a terrific tool for owners that have dogs that are weak in the back end. The best part is they have come out with a set of clips that attach to the harness to which y...
