2022 Year In Review

You know, I am a bit ‘hot and cold’ about people / businesses writing out their years in review.  However, here I am!  To be honest, it’s a bit cathartic for the writer.  It also reminds me of the adage, “you can accomplish less than you think you can in 1 year but more than you think you can in 3 years.”  So, all in all, when you keep track of what you do accomplish, you can then read back and think, “Well, oh my!  I did accomplish a lot!”  So here we go!

On the Education front, I did a  few online lectures for international groups and my first overseas lecturing since 3 years ago (at the IAVRPT conference)!  I taught, cotaught, or co-ordinated 8 Canadian courses for the Animal Rehab Division.  Two of which were part of the Small Animal Acupuncture and Dry Needling course – such a huge accomplishment to produce this for our members!

My clinic stayed crazy-busy, and we went through various staffing changes.  All good.  Additionally, my former business partner officially retired, and we parted ways after 19 years!  This led to bringing on 2 new business partners who are committed to the dream and vision that is The Canine Fitness Centre Ltd.

I am part of a group that formed RAAHP-Canada (the Registry of Allied Animal Health Practitioners), and the upcoming website should be ready in early 2023.

FourLegExercise.com saw 24 more exercises added to it!  (Check it out)  AND, I wrote (or edited) 52 blogs for FourLeg.com, created 52 FourLeg Rehab Minute videos, and 12 pieces of educational content.  FourLeg.com grew as well and is now close to 450 members (and I’m thankful for all of you)!

Hubby and I bought more cows and rented more land to expand the ranch.  We helped the youngest son establish his goat business and commended the oldest son on his decision to go back to school (in 2023) to learn Cabinetry Making.  I’m not going to lie, we have had a number of ups and downs in parenting our adult children (nobody told me about this!).

2022 represents a full year of no gym membership.  (The old gym closed down on January 1st last year)  However, I have had a ‘kind of’ consistent relationship with my treadmill, weights, and vibration platform in my home gym.  I lost 16 pounds and have kept it off.  (I now recommend the course I followed – go online to find Intermittent Fasting for Today’s Aging Woman – terrible name for a course, but great information!)

I paid more attention to politics, media, national and international issues.  I wrote letters, I signed petitions, I made donations, and I tried to be a rational voice representing the middle ground with those I chatted with.

I grew more food in the garden.  I dehydrated.  I froze.  I stocked up on non-perishables.  I am determined to be prepared for the economic downturn and food shortages.  I’m set for next  year as well, and purchased new raised garden beds, more seeds, some indoor grow lights.  I can’t wait for planting season next year!

I got Covid.  Subsequently, I went back to getting treatments from an energy healer.  She’s a client of mine, and I swear she’s magical!  I’ve kept Hubby healthy.  We are 3.5 years in from his diagnosis with Neuroendocrine Cancer and his doctors are shocked that he has had no progression of his disease.

I reorganized my basement.  I had a girls weekend in Santa Barbara, California.  Oh, and I got new stuff!  I bought a new car (before they mandate that all cars need to be electric).  I bought an artificial Christmas tree (because it takes so long to grow trees in my part of the world).  I got a new fridge and stove (the old ones were 18 years old… but other appliances on the ranch broke down – so I get new, and they get my hand-me-downs).  Ah, and I got a new puppy that I adore.

All in all, I guess I actually did get a lot of stuff done this year!

So, I encourage you to write out your year in review – for introspection and to go back to for reflection three years from now!

I look forward to hearing from you!

Cheers,  Laurie
